For as long as she can remember, Karen has escaped into a world of her own making. From age 5, her family knew she was destined for the art world. She transformed the family basement into her own studio because the living room, was no longer big enough to hold her piles and piles of drawings.
The need to make space for art has never faded. Even while obtaining a B.A. in Economics from Oberlin College and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University, she kept painting. While working as a lawyer, Karen created her own law practice rather than working at a large firm, because she wanted Fridays off to create. Karen says, “Art is my balance. It’s where I can escape into the world of inner knowing.”
Today Karen Miraldi works full time with art, both as a coach and a visual artist with a passion for collage, encaustics, mixed media, and painting. She teaches unique workshops using art and visualization as a springboard to opening limiting blocks and discovering and expanding one’s creative potential for both art and life. Over the last 30 years, her work has evolved from representational and impressionistic to abstract and expressive. She draws upon her travels from the American Southwest and the French countryside to the plains of Kenya to inspire and enhance her art.
